Why WB Governor Felt "Humiliated" At Durga Puja Carnival Organized By Mamata Banerjee

Over 70 prominent community pujas put up a dazzling show on Friday at Red Road, projecting an array of themes and artwork on colourful tableaux during the annual carnival.

Kolkata: The rift between West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee widened on Tuesday after the former alleged that he felt insulted at the Durga Puja carnival organized by the TMC government in the city. However, he said nothing would deter him from performing his constitutional duties. Some reports say the governor was pleased with his seating arrangements and was not shown even once on the multi-camera footage of the big-ticket pujas. The governor was given a seat at a corner dais and couldn't watch the programme properly, Sources told new agency PTI. "I felt insulted at the carnival. I am deeply hurt and disturbed. The insult was not to me but to every people of West Bengal. They will never digest such as insult. "I am a servant of the people of West Bengal. Nothing can deter me from performing my constitutional duties," Dhankhar said on the sidelines of a programme here. Over 70 prominent community pujas put up a dazzling show on Friday at Red Road, projecting an array of themes and artwork on colourful tableaux during the annual carnival. The fourth edition of the event, the brainchild of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was attended by her ministerial colleagues, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, members of different consulates among other dignitaries and tourists.
