WATCH | Thick Clouds Of Smoke Rise As Fire Breaks Out In Guru Nanak Dev Hospital In Amritsar

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that he is constantly monitoring the situation. 

New Delhi: Huge clouds of black fumes were seen after a fire broke out at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Punjab’s Amritsar on Saturday. The cause for the fire is said to be a blast in transformers which were kept outside the hospital building. No injuries have been reported from the incident. 

As soon as the fire broke out, eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames, said fire officer Lovepreet Singh, quoted by news agency ANI. "Initially, the fire broke out in the transformers. Eight fire tenders reached on spot. The fire is under control. No injuries reported," the fire officer said.

“All arrangements have been made to bring the situation under control. We are examining the reason for the fire,” said Punjab Cabinet Minister, Harbhajan Singh, quoted by the news agency. 

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that he is constantly monitoring the situation. 

“Received news of a slow incident of fire at Guru Nanak Hospital in Sri Amritsar Sahib. Firefighters are quickly controlling the situation. No life was lost due to the grace of God. Minister Harbhajan Singh has reached the spot...I am continuously monitoring the relief work,” he tweeted. 

 

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal also addressed the situation and prayed for the well-being of patients, attendants and hospital staff. “Praying for the well being of patients, their attendants and the entire staff of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar, which is engulfed in a major fire,” Badal wrote on social media.
