The best outings, like the best love affairs, never really end. With Valentine’s Day or the festival of love just a week away, the Mumbaikars now have a reason to smile as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that restaurants and bars in the financial capital can yet again operate till 1 am.
The announcement came just 24 hours after the civic body restricted the eateries not to open beyond 11:30 pm. This as the owners requested the BMC stating that the 11:30 pm deadline had “no logic”.

Many restaurant owners, however, expressed displeasure over the civic body issuing notification at the last-minute while others seemed disgruntled about having received the notification over WhatsApp and were unsure of its legitimacy.
The BMC decision has come as a major relief for several hoteliers as there is a general increase in the number of customers during the Valentine’s Day week.
Besides, the fake offer links posted on social media for the Valentine’s Day week has also come under scrutiny of the city’s Cyber Police which has issued warning in this regard.
Earlier in December last year, the city witnessed a muted New Year celebration as the BMC had imposed a night curfew.
