'Vaccine Wastage Still On Higher Side': PM Points Out During High-End Meet To Review Inoculation Drive

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening chaired a high-level meeting to review Coronavirus vaccination drive across the country were he was briefed on various measures being taken on the tech front to make the process of innoculation more people-friendly.
According to a statement by PMO, the Prime Minister was also briefed on advance visibility being provided to states on vaccine availability.

Officials present at the meeting gave a presentation to PM Modi on several touchpoints of vaccination exercise and briefed him on the availability of the doses and the roadmap to ramp up supply in the days to come.
PM also reviewed the status of vaccination coverage in health-care workers as well as front-line workers and took stock the vaccination coverage in the above 45 as well as 18-44 age group.
After reviewing the data points provided by the officials, PM Modi pointed out that vaccine wastage numbers are still on the higher side and steps need to be taken to bring them down.

During the meeting, PM Modi was also told about the government's efforts to help vaccine manufacturers increase production.
Other Union ministers including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar were also present at the meeting.
