US To Ship First Batch Of 100 Ventilators To India By Next Week As Part Of Covid-Aid: White House

At present, the cases of coronavirus in India are soaring with the tally reaching at 2,07,615 and active cases standing at 1,01,497. As of now, 100302 people have recovered from the contagious coronavirus, while 5815 people have lost their live to the deadly disease.

New Delhi: India has crossed the 2-lakh mark in the  number of corona cases, reaching the 7-spot in the list of countries which highest COVID-19 cases. Amid the surging numbers, United States has agreed on extending a helping hand to India in order to deal with the pandemic. As per the latest development, US will dispatch the first batch of 100 ventilator to India by next week as part of COVID-aid. This comes a day after US President and India Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a telephonic conversation discussed various issues such as India-China standoff, Corona Pandemic and G7 Summit. PM Modi while speaking to Trump commended him for his creative and far-sighted approach, acknowledging the fact that such an expanded forum would be in keeping with emerging realities of post-COVID world. PM said India would be happy to work with US and other countries to ensure success. Following the discussion over call, the White House in a readout of the call said that US would soon ship the ventilators to India. "The President was happy to announce that the United States would be ready to ship the first tranche of 100 donated ventilators to India next week," the statement said. Calling India as ‘friends’ Trump last month, had announced that the US will donate 200 ventilators to India. Trump had said that they will be sending ‘a lot of’ ventilators and that they stand with India during the pandemic. “We are sending a lot of ventilators to India. I spoke to Prime Minister Modi. We are sending quite a few ventilators to India. We have a tremendous supply of ventilators.” He had said this in front of reporters as he boarded Marine One on his way to Camp David. The president also tweeted his support and said that he proud to donate the ventilators to India.
