UP Village Pradhan Studying Medicine In Ukraine Lands In Soup, To Face Action For Absence
This as Vaishali Yadav was elected the ‘pradhan adhyhaksh’ in Teri Pursauli gram panchayat last year.
New Delhi: A medical student from Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi has landed herself in the soup after her video appealing for a passage back from crisis-hit Ukraine went viral.
This as Vaishali Yadav was elected the ‘pradhan adhyhaksh’ in Teri Pursauli gram panchayat last year.
“Vaishali Yadav, the head of Hardoi’s village Tera Pursauli, is absent from her duties. It has come to light that she has gone for studying MBBS in Ukraine,” said Girish Chandra, Panchayat Raj Officer, Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, ANI reported.
“We have asked the ADO (Additional Development Officer) panchayat for the report and accordingly action will be taken,” he added.
Issuing a showcause notice to the 25-year-old, the Hardoi administration is investigating the gram panchayat’s functioning since the time she was elected.
The officials said that Vaishali left for Ukraine earlier on September 23 to complete her medicine degree.
This took place a month into her five-year tenure as the ‘pradhan adhyhaksh’.
Vaishali in her video, which went viral on social media, talked about how she and other students were running out of supplies and were hoping for a quick resolution.
“We are all stuck in our flats. We cannot step out because there is constant bombing. Our hopes are pinned on the Indian government that it would help us escape as fast as possible,” she said in a video posted last week.
The gram panchayat, as per the rules, is supposed to meet once a month and the gap between two meetings cannot exceed two months, the officials said, adding a panchayat member cannot be absent in three consecutive meetings.
