Unnao Rape Survivor's Accident Case: CBI Registers Case Against Suspended BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, 10 Others

CBI officials said the agency is all set to file an FIR into the accident.

Unnao Rape Survivor's Accident Case: A day after Centre handed over the Unnao rape survivor's accident case to CBI, the agency registered case against suspended BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar including ten others accused in the case. CBI has also registered a case against 20 unknown persons under criminal conspiracy, murder, attempt to murder and criminal intimidation. The Centre on Tuesday handed over the probe to the agency on the recommendation of the Uttar Pradesh government which had come under severe criticism for failing to provide security to the 19-year-old victim who accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of raping her. An order from the Department of Personnel and Training, accessed by the PTI, said the case is being handed over to the CBI to probe "abetment and conspiracies" into the accident. The rape case is also being probed by the agency, they said. On Sunday, the rape survivor, her family and lawyer were travelling in car when it was hit by an overspeeding truck in Rae Bareli, killing two aunts and leaving her and the advocate critically injured. Sengar, a four-time MLA from UP's Bangermau, was arrested last year in April. Unnao rape victim, undergoing treatment after accident, stable: KGMU docs The condition of the Unnao-rape survivor and her lawyer, undergoing treatment at the King George Medical University hospital here after getting critically injured in a road accident, is stable, said doctors on Tuesday. "The rape survivor has sustained multiple fractures. A CT scan was conducted on her. It revealed no head injury. Her condition is stable and doctors are monitoring her situation round the clock." KGMU's Trauma Centre in-charge, Dr Sandeep Tiwari Tuesday told PTI. The victim, however, is still on a ventilator, he added. Asked about her lawyer's condition, Dr Tiwari said the advocate was removed from the ventilator for sometime on Tuesday during which his condition remained stable. "He was, however, put again on the ventilator," he added. Asked if the KGMU intended to call in specialist doctors from other hospitals, Dr Tiwari said, "There is no shortage of specialists in KGMU. If needed, we can, however, call doctors from other hospitals of Lucknow." (with inputs from agencies)
