UK Recognises Covaxin As Valid Covid Vaccine For Travel From Today, Relief For Indian Students & Tourists

The United Kingdom will now accept all seven Covid vaccines that have obtained emergency approval from the World Health Organization, including India's Covaxin.

New Delhi: Covaxin from India has been authorised for travel purposes into the UK, allowing tourists and international students, who have been properly inoculated, to enter.

Earlier in November, India's Covaxin was authorised by the World Health Organization (WHO) under Emergency Use Listing (EUL). The UK will now accept all seven Covid vaccines that have obtained emergency approval from the World Health Organization, including India's Covaxin.

With this, Indian students who are fully vaccinated against the covid-19 virus will be able to pursue their studies in person in the UK.

"You must be able to prove that you’ve been fully vaccinated under a vaccination programme with approved proof of certification," the department states in order to travel to the UK.

The UK is following in the footsteps of Australia, which increased the number of vaccinations it recognises last month, and the United States, which stated it would accept all WHO-approved vaccines when it opened its borders to international passengers earlier this month.
