Fake Tirupati Laddus: TTD Registers Case Against Website For Selling Famed Laddus 'Illegally'
It is alleged in the complaints that the fame of ancient temple and its much sought after 'laddu' has been used for wrongful gains by the operators of the website.

As per the news agency PTI, the portal has been blocked following a criminal complaint lodged with police here by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The action has been taken after the social media outcry on the fake website, www.balajiprasadam.com. claimed to provide door delivery of the hill temple's 'laddus' (ball-shaped sweet) to devotees across the country at 'exorbitant' prices.
In the complaint, it is alleged that the fame of ancient temple and its much sought after 'laddu' has been used for wrongful gains by the operators of the website. However, no arrest has so far been made in this connection.
The special laddu prepared at the massive kitchen close to the shrine at nearby Tirumala has remained in high demand among devotees, who throng the shrine from different parts of the world throughout the year. It is estimated annually about 10 crore pieces of laddu are made and sold for ₹50 each.
As pet the report, some unscrupulous elements took advantage of the coronavirus pandemic and resorted to cheating the devotees. On the other hand, the deactivated website has mentioned about the disruption in services saying,"We made a genuine effort. We also mentioned on the website that the laddus will be purchased from the TTD outlet. Considering the circumstances, we have discontinued the website which was launched on 7th December 2020."
"We are grateful to the people who supported us and we apologize for any inconvenience," the site added.
Meanwhile all devotees can start booking their visit for Vaikunda Ekadasi at Tirupati Ezhumalayan Temple from Friday. Devotees can make reservations through the website http://tirupatibalaji.ap.gov.in, the temple administration has informed
