SC Regains Full Strength As Gauhati HC CJ Sudhanshu Dhulia, Justice Pardiwala Of Guj HC Take Oath As Judges
Supreme Court New Judges: The Union Law Ministry announced their appointments in separate notifications, two days after the apex court collegium recommended the names of the two high court judges.
New Delhi: Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Gujarat High Court judge Justice Jamshed B Pardiwala were on Monday took oath as Supreme Court judges, following the Centre's notification accepting the apex court's proposal. Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana administered the oath of office to justices Dhulia and Pardiwala during an event at the newly-built auditorium of the additional building complex of the top court, news agency PTI reported.
With the appointment of Justice Dhulia and Justice Pardiwala, the top court has regained its full strength of 34 judges after it came down to 32 after the retirement of Justice R Subhash Reddy on January 4 this year.

The Union Law Ministry announced their appointments on Saturday in separate notifications, two days after the apex court collegium headed by CJI NV Ramana recommended the names of the two high court judges.
Justice Pardiwala will go on to serve as the CJI for over two years, PTI reported citing sources aware of the procedure to appoint members of the higher judiciary.
Justice Dhulia, the second judge to be elevated from Uttarakhand, is the sibling of national award-winning film director and actor Tigmanshu Dhulia. He will have a tenure of a little over three years.
