Hanuman Saini, a 75-year-old man who was previously employed in Delhi's Khari Baoli, disappeared abruptly in 1989. After an absence of more than thirty years, he was greeted with the reception reserved for heroes upon his return to Bansoor village in the Alwar district on May 30. His family reunion drew a large crowd to his home.
Saini's entire brood of five offspring, comprising of two sons and three daughters, have now tied the knot.
The individual in his seventies asserted that he had devoted the past 33 years of his life to practicing meditation at the 'Kangra Mata' temple located in Himachal Pradesh, as an act of devotion to the goddess.
His family had lost all faith in locating him and considered him deceased, leading them to perform last rites and obtain a death certificate under his name.
Saini asserts that he received communication from the divine entity 'Kangra Mata', and has undergone an extensive 33-year period of meditation. According to Saini, the goddess advised him to reunite with his family.
Speaking with ANI, Saini stated: “When I boarded the train the TT asked for a ticket but I had only Rs 20 with me and he was kind enough to give me a ticket till Pathankot from where I reached Kangra Mata temple in Himachal and spent 33 years in the service and worship of Mataji (goddess)."
“In between, I went to Gangasagar and Kali Maiya temple in Kolkata. Finally, after completing my meditation and worship, the goddess directed me to return home and I came back to my family," he further stated.
Saini traveled to Khairthal in Rajasthan by train on May 29 before continuing his journey on foot, ultimately arriving at the Tatarpur crossing after nightfall.
On May 30th in the morning, as he was asking local residents for assistance in locating his residence, a single individual was able to identify him and escort him to his Alwar house.
After 33 years of Hanuman Saini's disappearance, his family had no hope of finding him alive, according to his son, Ramchandra Saini. They were encountering difficulties in matters pertaining to land. In 2022, they obtained a death certificate via legal proceedings.
“We had given up the hope of father being alive but we are delighted that he came back. We were very young back then and had not even seen him properly. Today we are extremely happy as our father has returned to the family,” Ramchandra Saini said.
