Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Delhi's Sir Gangaram Hospital with symptoms of mild fever on Sunday. She has been kept under the observation of doctors and her condition is stable, news agency ANI reported. Prior to this, was admitted twice to a hospital in 2023. She was admitted on January 12 after facing a respiratory infection. She was again admitted to a hospital in March with symptoms of fever.
She met YSR Telangana Party president YS Sharmila on Saturday. Their meeting came at a time when there were discussions regarding the merger of Sharmila's party with the Congress.
After meeting with her, Sharmila said, "YSRTP chief YS Sharmila says “I met Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi today. A very constructive discussion was held. I will keep working for the welfare of the people. I want to tell you one thing, Telangana CM KCR's countdown has begun."
The Congress has been preparing for the high-stakes election for Telangana's 119-member Assembly later this year where it intends to unseat the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Sonia Gandhi Attended Opposition Bloc I.N.D.I.A Meet In Mumbai
Earlier on Friday Sonia Gandhi was seen at the meeting of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) meeting in Mumbai. At the end of the meeting, she posed with other members of the Opposition bloc for a picture.
The names of the members of I.N.D.I.A.'s coordination committee and its election strategy committee were also revealed that day.
