A half-burnt body of a woman was found inside a tin box in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi on Saturday. Police officials told news agency PTI that the possibility of rape before murder could not be ruled out yet. The body was recovered when the police were informed about stench emanating from a box that was lying near the Lala Nagar toll plaza on National Highway 19. Upon receiving this information, police officials rushed to the spot and found the half-burnt body of a woman lying inside the box. Bhadohi Superintendent of Police (SP) Meenakshi Katyayan visited the spot and told news agency PTI that the said woman was around 20 years old and was wearing a white suit.
SP Katyayan added that there is a possibility that some untoward incident might have happened to her before she was killed. The deceased's body was burnt from the face to the waist with the help of petrol so it would become difficult to identify her.
The legs of the deceased seemed to have been tied with a rope, reported PTI.
A forensic team and a dog squad reached the spot to collect evidence. The SP said that the body was being sent for post-mortem examination and efforts were underway to identify the woman.
Katyayan added that the possibility of rape before murder could not be ruled out and all possible angles are being probed, PTI reported.
Earlier in another incident, the body of an 11-year-old child identified as Divyansh was found inside a bed box at his home in the Inder Puri area of Delhi. The mother of the deceased while talking to the media on August 11 said that a woman was behind her child's death. She said that she got to know about her son's disappearance after his dance teacher called and informed her that he did not make it to the class. In this case, the initial probe suggested that the boy was strangled to death before the accused put his body in the bed box.
