Sonia Gandhi Hoists Tricolour At Party Office On 135th Congress Foundation Day

Congress will take out marches across the country today against the CAA, for which the party has asked its leaders to organise a flag march in each state and inform the people about the CAA

New Delhi: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi hoisted tricolour on Saturday at the party office on 135th Congress Foundation Day. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Motilal Vora, AK Antony and other senior leaders were present during the flag hoisting ceremony.
Amid the raging anti-CAA protests in the entire nation, Congress will take out marches across the country today against the CAA, for which the party has asked its leaders to organise a flag march in each state and inform the people about the CAA.
"Sacrifice for the nation stands above all else for the Congress party. From the time of our foundation, through the Indian independence movement and for all the days to come, India comes first," the party said on its official Twitter handle.
Rahul Gandhi, who attended the flag hoisting ceremony at the AICC this morning, is scheduled to address a public rally later in Guwahati, Assam.
When asked to respond to the BJP accusing him of lying about detention centres. Rahul said,"I have tweeted a video where Narendra Modi is saying that there are no detention centres in India, and in the same video there are visuals of a detention centre, so you decide who is lying."
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be in Lucknow for the 134th foundation day event where she will lead a party meeting to devise a strategy to take on the Uttar Pradesh government on the police brutality against anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protesters.
The situation in Uttar Pradesh is tense as more than 15 people have been shot dead in alleged police firing over the CAA-related protests. Several Opposition parties including the Congress is opposing the Citizenship Act alleging it to be unconstitutional and discriminatory. On Thursday, the Congress also raised objections to the process of the National Population Register (NPR). The party alleged that the NPR exercise would involve invading the privacy of the citizen.
