BJP Leader Sonali Phogat, Who Contested Haryana Polls Against Kuldeep Bishnoi, Dies In Goa

Sonali Phogat contested the 2019 Haryana assembly election as a BJP candidate from the Adampur Assembly constituency and was fielded against Kuldeep Bishnoi.

BJP leader, actor and former TikTok star Sonali Phogat died in Goa reportedly after suffering a heart attack Monday night. The 41-year-old complained of uneasiness after which she was taken to hospital, The Tribune reported. Sonali had gone to Goa along with some of her staff members for a two-day shoot.

Jivba Dalvi, Deputy SP, Bambolim told ANI that the BJP leader was brought dead to the hospital and an inquiry is in progress.

Sonali Phogat contested the 2019 Haryana assembly election as a BJP candidate from the Adampur Assembly constituency and was fielded against Kuldeep Bishnoi, who recently switched camps from the Congress to the BJP. She had lost the contest by a margin of 29,471 votes.

Sonali was from Bhuthan Kalan village in Fatehabad district in Haryana and was married to Sanjay Phogat, a politician from Hisar. Her husband died a few years ago, also reportedly after a heart attack. She is survived by her daughter, Yashodhara Phogat.

Sonali met Kuldeep Bishnoi last week, amid speculation that she would be fielded as the BJP candidate in the Adampur by-elections.

Sonali Phogat had posted a video on her official Instagram Monday night, and also changed her profile picture on her Twitter handle late Monday.
