67 People Die Due To Lightning In UP, Rajasthan And MP; PM Modi Announces Ex-Gratia
Lightning has killed many people in different states. After the death of dozens of people, the Chief Minister of UP and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha have expressed grief.
Jaipur: Monsoon rains in several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday brought relief from the heat but it wreaked havoc for many families. Around 40 people have died due to lightning in the state, while dozens of people have been injured in this disaster. At the same time, about 20 people lost their lives due to lightning in Rajasthan. Also, seven people died due to lightning in Madhya Pradesh.
Family members of deceased to get ex-gratia
PM Modi has announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs each from PM National Relief Fund to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to lightning in parts of Rajasthan. Rs. 50,000 to be provided to the injured, informed the Prime Minister's office.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to all the 40 dead due to lightning. The Chief Minister has issued instructions to assist the kin of the deceased. CM Yogi ordered that the injured should be given proper treatment.
20 killed in Rajasthan
In Rajasthan, 20 people, including 7 children, lost their lives in several incidents of lightning in different parts of the state. 21 other people have been injured in this natural calamity. The injured are undergoing treatment.
CM Gehlot announced compensation
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh from the state government to the next of kin of the deceased. The deceased will be given Rs 4 lakh from the emergency relief fund while Rs 1 lakh will be given from the Cm relief fund.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed grief
Kota MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla have expressed grief towards the victims of the incident. He tweeted and said, "The news of the death of four children and injuries to some children in Garda village of Kanwas tehsil of Kota parliamentary constituency and three children in Bari area of Dholpur district is heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved family in this hour of immense sorrow.
