Sharad Pawar's Key Meet In Delhi Today Amid NCP Crisis — Top 5 Updates
Sharad Pawar has called a national executive meeting a day after Maharashtra Dy. CM Ajit Pawar asked the senior Pawar when will he retire from active politics.
NCP president Sharad Pawar has called a national executive meeting on Thursday in New Delhi. The meeting comes a day after Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said he aspired to become the CM of the state and also took a jibe at Sharad Pawar asking his 83-year-old uncle when will he retire from active politics. On Wednesday, Sharad Pawar said that the NCP poll symbol of the clock will remain with him and no one can snatch it. This comment came after rebel NCP leader Ajit Pawar approached the Election Commission and staked claim to the party name and poll symbol.
In its letter to the Election Commission, the rebel NCP faction mentioned that Ajit Pawar was the national president of the party and not Sharad Pawar, sources told ABP News. Ajit Pawar, who has said he has the backing of more than 35 MLAs, also staked claim to the Nationalist Congress Party name and party symbol.

- On Wednesday, the two factions held separate meetings with their MLAs in Mumbai in what was a platform to showcase their strength.
- Amid reports of discomfort among Shiv Sena MLAs after NCP's Ajit Pawar joined the Maharashtra government, the party on Wednesday dismissed reports that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde would resign soon. BJP's Maharashtra state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule also said that Shinde would remain the Chief Minister. Addressing reporters after a meeting of MLAs called by Shinde, Uday Samant said all future elections would be held under leadership of Eknath Shinde.
- The Election Commission of India has received a petition from Ajit Pawar staking claim to the NCP and party symbol. The Election Commission has also received a caveat from Jayant Patil that they have initiated a disqualification process against 9 MLAs. Ajit Pawar needs the support of at least 36 MLAs (Two-thirds of elected leaders in the assembly) to avoid the anti-defection law. NCP has 53 MLAs in the Maharashtra assembly.
- The veteran politician, who has battled many crisis in the six decades of his political career, objected to his big photo adorning the stage at the meeting convened by the Ajit Pawar group, said those using his image are aware that they have nothing else to show. On the Ajit Pawar-led faction approaching the EC and staking claim to the party symbol, senior Pawar assured his supporters he won’t allow anyone to snatch the party symbol.
- Raj Thackeray, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena head, has mocked the NCP and Sharad Pawar over Ajit Pawar's support for the BJP. Raj Thackeray stated that Sharad Pawar is aware of all of this when Ajit Pawar became deputy CM in the Shinde cabinet, and it's merely political drama, news agency PTI reported.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) working president Supriya Sule on Wednesday hit back at Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar for taking a dig at her father and party veteran Sharad Pawar over his age. “Some people are saying that people who are senior now should give us blessings. Why should they stop working? Ratan Tata is 86 years old. Serum Institute's Cyrus Poonawala's age is 84. Amitabh Bachchan is 82,” Sule said while addressing the party gathering in Mumbai.
