Shahdara Sexual Assault Case: Delhi Police Arrest All 11 Accused, SIT Formed For Speedy Probe
Shahdara sexual assault case: After the video of the horrific incident went viral, the Delhi Police has arrested 11 people in connection with the sexual assault that occurred in Kasturba Nagar in Shahdara District of Delhi.
New Delhi: The Delhi police on Saturday arrested 11 people including 9 women and 2 underage boys accused in the Shahdara sexual assault case that happened on 26th January.
Police also said that the vehicle used in the crime has also been discovered and a Special Investigation Teams (SIT) team of 10 members has been formed to speed up the probe in the case.

Since the video of people beating the victim went viral on social media, the incident has triggered massive outrage.
Backgrounder of the case
The incident took place in Kasturba Nagar in Shahdara on Wednesday. It was informed to the police that a woman was allegedly abducted, gang-raped, and paraded on the streets of the national capital with a shaved head, face blackened with ink, and a garland of shoes around her neck.
The 20-year-old victim’s husband informed the police about the incident who then reached the spot and rescued her. The police have filed a complaint under different sections of the Indian Penal Code including gang rape, physical assault, sexual assault, and criminal conspiracy.
The victim’s sister said that a boy in the neighbourhood who claimed to be in love with the woman had died by suicide in November last year. “His family blames my sister for their son's death," she told ANI.
Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also urged the center to instruct the police to take strict action in the case, calling it a shameful act. The Delhi Commission for Women has also issued a notice to the Delhi police demanding security for the family of the victim.
Shahdara Deputy Commissioner of Police, R Sathiyasundaram said, “An unfortunate incident of sexual assault of a woman due to personal enmity happened in Shahdara District.”
