'Apologise To People': BJP Leaders React After Rahul Gandhi's 2 India, China-Pakistan Remarks In Lok Sabha

Following the remarks of Rahul Gandhi attacking the judiciary and Election Commission, top BJP leaders took to social media and demanded his apology.

New Delhi: Hours after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the Narendra Modi-led government in his speech in Lok Sabha, several Bharatiya Janata Party's leaders reacted sharply to Rahul's remarks on social media platform Twitter.

Rahul Gandhi attacked the NDA government's policies in the Lok Sabha. He said that judiciary, election commission, Pegasus, etc. are all how the voice of the 'Union of States' (federal structure) is being suppressed.

On foreign policy, Rahul Gandhi said that China and Pakistan have come closer because of the mistakes of our government. Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has given a strong reaction to Rahul's statement.

"In 1963, Pakistan illegally handed over the Shaksgam valley to China. Beijing built the Karakoram highway through PoK in the 1970s. From the 1970s, the two countries also had close nuclear collaboration. In 2013, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor started. So, ask yourself: were China and Pakistan distant then?" Jaishankar wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

From economy to foreign policy, the Congress leader reacted on all subjects.

During his speech, Rahul Gandhi also said that this time no foreign guest came to India on the occasion of Republic Day.

While responding to Rahul's statement on Republic Day celebrations, Jaishankar said, "In Lok Sabha,  @RahulGandhi said we could not get a foreign guest for Republic Day. Those who live in India know we were in the midst of a corona wave. The 5 Central Asian Presidents, who were to come, did hold a virtual summit on Jan 27. Did Rahul Gandhi miss that as well?"

Meanwhile, Rahul also slammed the judiciary and the Election Commission. Rahul said that the Modi government has made the judiciary, the Election Commission, and Pegasus spyware a means to suppress the voice of the people.

"The confused idea of the nation of India is playing havoc with the country. Referring to Peagusus, Rahul Gandhi said these are institutions to attack the people. “When PM Modi is personally going to Israel and authorising pegasus, he is attacking the people of Tamil Nadu, he is attacking the people of Assam,” Rahul Gandhi said amid uproar in Parliament.

While condemning Rahul's remarks on the judiciary and the Election Commission, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju sought an apology and said that he condemns Gandhi's statements on India's judiciary and the EC not only as “India's law minister but also as an ordinary citizen”.

“These are vital institutions of our democracy. Mr Rahul Gandhi should immediately apologise to the people, judiciary, and [the] EC,” the minister's tweet further read.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also attacked Gandhi saying “Mr Rahul Gandhi, those who prefer to feed biscuits to dogs in the presence of leaders from Assam and then offer them the same biscuits should be the last people to talk about political decency.”

Sarma said, “high command mindset is INC’s be all and end all and the people of India know it well”.

However, post his Lok Sabha address, Rahul Gandhi further slammed the Centre. In several tweets, the former Congress President wrote, "here are 2 competing visions of India. One, of a Union of States, where decisions are taken through conversation & negotiation - a partnership of equals. Another, of rule by a Shahenshah's diktat. This hasn’t worked in 3000 years."

"BJP’s flawed vision has weakened our nation," he said.

"Institutions - instruments of conversation between states & people - are being destroyed by BJP’s idea of India. They’ve created a divide where a “Double A” variant of the very richest monopolise all sectors. Yet in "Gareebon ka Hindustan", 3 crore youth lost jobs in 2021," he added.

"BJP is fiddling with things they don’t understand. Their policies have united our enemies. The threat is imminent. India has become isolated & surrounded. The spirit with which I speak is one of discomfort over the state of our nation. We must act swiftly & decisively," Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

Rahul earlier in LS said the “judiciary, the EC Pegasus, these are all instruments that are destroying the voice of the Union of states”.
