‘I Don't Understand BJP's Obsession With Dogs’: Rahul Gandhi Dismisses BJP’s Claim On Viral Biscuit Video

A video featuring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi feeding a dog during the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' prompted a reaction from the BJP which claimed that he offered the same biscuit to a party worker.

A video featuring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi feeding a dog during the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' prompted a reaction from the BJP which claimed that he offered the same biscuit to a party worker. When asked about the incident, Gandhi explained, "I called the dog and the owner. The dog was nervous, and shivering, and when I tried to feed it, the dog got scared. So I gave biscuits to the dog's owner and the dog ate them from his hand. I don't understand what's the issue with it", news agency ANI reported.

In response to BJP's allegations suggesting the man involved was a Congress worker, Gandhi rebutted, "No, where was he a Congress worker? I don't understand BJP's obsession with dogs."

BJP's National IT head, Amit Malviya, had criticised the incident on X, drawing a parallel with a previous speech by Congress leader Kharge. Malviya posted, "Just a few days ago, Congress president Kharge compared party booth agents to dogs, and now Rahul Gandhi is feeding biscuits to a dog during his rally and when the dog didn't eat, he gave the same biscuit to his worker."

Kharge's speech, referenced by the BJP leader, occurred at the ‘Nyay Sankalp Workers’ Convention in Delhi on February 3.

According to ANI, Kharge had remarked, "...when you go to buy a dog or an animal, you inquire about it... Jo bhaunkta hai, ladta hai, aapke sath rehta hai usko lelo aur usko booth level committee ka agent banao (The one who barks, fights, and remains with you pick them as booth level committee agent)..."
