Sidhu's Fate Still In Cliffhanger As Harish Rawat Refutes Claims Of His Appointment As Punjab Congress Chief
Rawat said it may take some time but to balance the equation in the state, the party is working on the formula to appoint Sidhu in a prominent position.
New Delhi: Hours after reportedly finalising a truce formula to resolve the rift between cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu and Captain Amarinder Singh in Punjab, Congress says that nothing has been finalised as to who will be made state president.
Earlier in the day, sources close to the development said that Congress high-command is likely to appoint Sidhu as Punjab state unit President with two working presidents and the party will fight elections under the leadership of Amarinder Singh.

However, Congress General Secretary in-charge of Punjab Harish Rawat has now backtracked from his statement stating he did not say anything of sorts.
"No no, I didn't say that. I was asked if he (Navjot Singh Sidhu) will be made president of Punjab Congress & I said that a decision will be taken around what you're saying," Rawat said while speaking to reporters after meeting Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.
Sources say that Congress is mulling an idea of appointing a Dalit and a Hindu as working presidents in Punjab.
Earlier in the day, Rawat said it may take some time but to balance the equation in the state, the party is working on the formula to appoint Sidhu in a prominent position while asserting that Amarinder Singh has already said that he will abide by the high command's decision.
