Pune: Doctor Thrashed After Death Of Woman's Pet Cat, Five Booked

As per reports, the doctor has fractured his leg during the attack while the accused are absconding after the incident.

New Delhi: A woman and four others were booked for allegedly beating up a veterinary doctor after a cat died while undergoing treatment.

The accused, along with four other persons, assaulted the victim, Dr Ramnath Dhage and ransacked his pet clinic in Hadapsar in Pune. According to reports, the doctor has sustained fractures in his leg bone due to the assault.

According to the Hadapsar Police, the incident is said to have taken place on December 10.

The FIR states that Dhage runs the clinic and the accused, after the death of the cat, threatened to kill the doctor and said that he too would die like her cat.

As per reports, the doctor has fractured his leg during the attack while the accused are absconding after the incident.

Police Inspector (PI) Arvind Gokule said that a case of physical assault has been registered against the accused and the entire attack has been captured live on the CCTV camera.

Meanwhile, the Veterinary Doctors Association has come out in protest over the assault on the doctor.

It is to be noted that in Pune, if one wants to keep a cat at home, then the person has to get a license from the Municipal Corporation. 

There is an online process for getting this license. According to the provisions of the Municipal Act, it is mandatory to register with the Health Department of the Municipal Corporation for keeping pets such as cats, dogs and horses in the house. 

A fee of Rs 50 per year has to be paid for the registration of the pet. 

Apart from this, residence certificate, vaccination certificate and photo of the pet is mandatory for registration. On renewal of the license every year, apart from the license fee of Rs 50, an additional fee of Rs 25 has to be paid.
