Earlier today, the police also detained Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, and several other party lawmakers as they marched from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Alleging that some MPs at protest were beaten by the police, Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi said, "All Congress MPs were marching towards Rashtrapati Bhawan to raise the issue of inflation & price rise but they are not allowing us to go ahead from here. Our job is to raise the issues of the people...Some MPs detained, also beaten."
At the conference held on Friday, Rahul Gandhi launched a ferocious attack on the Modi government. He said that the manner in which the Centre has unleashed central agencies against opposition demonstrates India is witnessing the "onset of dictatorship".
