President Ram Nath Kovind Undergoes Successful Bypass Surgery At AIIMS, Condition Stable

75-year-old President was first brought to the Army's Research and Referral Hospital for a health check-up on Friday morning, March 27, after suffering from chest discomfort.

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovid on Tuesday successfully underwent a bypass surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Science (IMMS) in the national capital. The news was shared by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Twitter. 

As per reports, Kovind is currently under observation as his health is stable and being closely monitored by specialist doctors.

75-year-old President was first brought to the Army's Research and Referral Hospital for a health check-up on Friday morning, March 27, after suffering from chest discomfort.

Doctors of the RR Hospital then referred him to AIIMS for further investigation. Kovind was then taken to AIIMS in Delhi on the afternoon of 27 March.

Earlier on Saturday, the Army hospital said in a medical bulletin that the president is being referred to AIIMS, Delhi for further investigation.

Post his examiniation, doctors had advised him to undergo bypass surgery, for which the time was fixed for March 30.

Last week Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to President Ram Nath Kovind's son to enquire about his health. "PM Narendra Modi spoke to Rashtrapati Ji's son. He enquired about the President's health and prayed for his well-being," PMO said in a tweet.
