'Will India Run By Knife?' Congress Asks PM Modi Over Pragya Thakur's 'Keep Blades' Advice To Hindus

Congress on Monday hit out at PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for being 'silent' on BJP MP Pragya Thakur's advice to Hindus to "keep knives sharpened at home for protection".

Congress leader Manickam Tagore called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action against terror-accused BJP MP from Madhya Pradesh Pragya Thakur for egging Hindus on to “behead enemies” at an event organised by Hindu Jagarana Vedike. Manickam Tagore questioned BJP national president JP Nadda’s silence on the issue.

Tagore shared a video of the Bhopal MP where she is heard saying, “Keep weapons in your homes. If you have nothing else, at least keep the knives, which are used to cut vegetables, sharp..."

Congress's Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi tweeted: "A BJP MP, accused of a bomb blast, released on bail, is advising the public to sharpen knives. Are the country's Prime Minister and Home Minister listening? Will the country run by the Constitution of Babasaheb Ambedkar, or will it run on a knife's blade?"

Speaking at the event, which was organised in Karnataka’s Shivamogga, Pragya Thakur said: “Love jihad, they have a tradition of jihad, if nothing they do love jihad. Even if they love, they do jihad in that. We (Hindus), too, love. We love God. A sanyasi loves his God.”

“Sanyasi says in this world created by God, end all the oppressors and sinful, if not the true definition of love will not survive here. So, answer those involved in Love Jihad the same way. Protect your girls, teach them the right values,” she was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

She also spoke about the murder of 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist Harsha from Shivamogga. “They have stabbed our youths, like Harsha, from Bajrang Dal, BJP, and Yuva Morcha. So, we should also keep our knives sharpened. You never know what kind of opportunity comes. Everyone has the right to self-protection. If someone infiltrates our house and attacks us, giving a befitting reply is our right,” Pragya Thakur said.

She advised parents against admitting their children to missionary educational institutions. Thakur said, “By doing so [admit kids to missionary institutions], you will open the doors of old-age homes for yourselves... The children won't be yours and of your culture. They will grow up in the culture of old-age homes and become selfish," she said.

"Do puja at your home, read about your dharma and shastra, teach your children about it, so that they know about our culture and values," she added.
