PM Modi Extends Greetings On Eid-Ul-Fitr, Says 'May Everyone Be Happy And Healthy'

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended Eid greetings to people, praying the festival spread the spirit of compassion, togetherness and peace.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said, "May everyone be happy and healthy. Eid Mubarak!" Eid is being celebrated in Kerala and Ladakh on Wednesday, while it will be celebrated in the rest of the country on April 11."

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan.

The festival is celebrated across the world on different days and it is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon which is supposed to denote the start of the Shawwal month in the lunar Islamic calendar.

PM Modi also warmly greeted Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, the government and the people of the archipelago nation on the occasion of Eid and also highlighted the cultural and civilisational linkages between the two countries.

"As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr with traditional fervour, people across the world are reminded of the values of compassion, brotherhood and togetherness, which are essential in building a peaceful and inclusive world that we all aspire for," Prime Minister Modi said in his greetings to President Muizzu.

"Hon'ble Prime Minister of India @NarendraModi extended warm greetings to His Excellency President of Maldives Dr. @MMuizzu, the Government & the people of the Republic of Maldives," the Indian High Commission here said in a post on X.

President Murmu Greets Citizens

President Droupadi Murmu greeted citizens on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, and said this festival motivates all to lead a peaceful life and work for the prosperity of the society.

"This festival marks the culmination of the period of fasting and prayer during the holy month of Ramzan and gives us the message of love and brotherhood," the president said.

"This festival promotes unity, forgiveness and charity. Eid is the occasion to help the poor and deprived people and share our happiness with them. This festival motivates us to lead a peaceful life and work for prosperity of the society," Murmu said. She said, on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, let us spread the feelings of love, kindness and compassion”.
