India Sees Itself As 'Vishwamitra,' World Calls The Country Its Friend, Says Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the manner in which India navigated through challenges including Covid-19 has made the world see it as its friend, a 'Vishwamitra'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday talked about how the 'New India' has gained recognition across the globe and how the world now regards India as 'Vishwamitra'. The Prime Minister said that the manner in which India navigated and emerged stronger from the challenges including Covid-19, has enhanced its image in front of the world and now the whole world sees it as a friend. He added that India is poised to enter a new chapter of a 'renaissance' in terms of its global economic, strategic, and cultural might. PM Modi was addressing a gathering in Telangana's Kanha Shanti Vanam.

PM Modi said, "An India, which is making rapid strides towards becoming a developed country, sees itself as a friend of the world. From the way we stood by distressed economies across the world at the time of the global coronavirus pandemic, I don't need to tell you that the world has also come to regard us as 'Vishwamitra' (a friend of the world). The whole world is calling us their friend and you all are its capable and empowered cultural representatives," as quoted by news agency ANI.

"You too are contributing towards building a prosperous India by taking forward our prosperous heritage. Prosperity doesn't come just through wealth, there is an equal importance of cultural upliftment. Today, India is entering a stage of renaissance in economic, strategic, cultural and every manner," he added.

The Prime Minister then emphasised that it was time for the country to take its heritage to unprecedented heights. "In this, Sri Ram Chandra Mission and its followers play a huge role. For building a developed India, we need to focus on 4 pillars. I call them 'Amrit Stambh'. These are women power, youth power, manpower and power of enterprise," he remarked, as per ANI.
