Earlier on Thursday, the agency had conducted raids in various locations in Bihar, including Nalanda district. As per the sources, these searches were conducted about a week after the NIA lodged a case and began an extensive investigation into the issue.
The locations where NIA conducted raids belonged to the members of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the sources claimed.
The NIA registered the case on July 22 night under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in response to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Counter Terrorism and Counter Radicalisation division directing the agency to take over the inspection from Bihar Police.
Bihar Police recently found the PFI "terror module" case, arresting three persons for their connections to the organisation and intentions to engage in "anti-India" activities.
The NIA searched Jamia Maria Niswa Madrasa in Bihar's Purvi Champaran district on Wednesday and detained a teacher named Asghar Ali.
Phulwari Sharif Case
Mohammad Jalaluddin, a former Jharkhand Police officer, and Athar Parvez were nabbed on July 13 in Patna's Phulwari Sharif neighborhood, while Nuruddin Jangi was apprehended three days later in Lucknow by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) at the request of Bihar Police.
Bihar Police have detained five individuals and identified 26 others in the Phulwari Sharif case.
Many questionable papers were seized during Bihar police operations in Phulwari Sharif. One such paper, titled 'Vision 2047 India,' detailed plans for an armed attack on the Indian state by Indian Muslims assisted by Islamic nations such as Turkey. The cops also discovered some PFI pamphlets.
These terrorists were being groomed 15 days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Patna at Phulwari Sharif. On July 6-7, they conducted gatherings and utilised communally arousing statements.
