Petrol, Diesel Prices Today: Fuel Prices Touch All-Time High; Diesel Crosses Rs 94 mark in Delhi

The price of petrol in Delhi rose to its highest-ever level of ₹105.49 a litre and ₹111.43 per litre in Mumbai, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.

New Delhi:  Fuel prices continued with the upward trajectory on Saturday to touch the highest levels across the country with petrol and diesel in the national capital costing Rs 105.49 per litre (up by 35 paise) & Rs 94.22 per litre (up by 0.35 paise) respectively.

"Petrol & diesel prices per litre-Rs 111.43 & Rs 102.15 in Mumbai, Rs 106.11 & Rs 97.33 in Kolkata; Rs 102.70 & 98.59 in Chennai respectively," according to news agency ANI. In Mumbai, diesel is costing Rs102.15 a litre.

This remains the third straight day of 35 paise per litre increase in petrol and diesel prices. There were no changes in rates on October 12 and 13. Petrol and diesel have been priced at Rs106.10 and Rs97.33 respectively in Kolkata and  ₹102.70 and  sold at Rs98.59 per litre in Chennai, respectively.

In Bengaluru, petrol is available at  Rs109.16 per litre and diesel at  Rs 100.00 and in Hyderabad, one litre of petrol is now available at  Rs 109.73 and diesel cost  Rs 102.80 for one litre of diesel.

Even as petrol price in most parts of the country already breached Rs100-a-litre mark, diesel rates have crossed that level in a severak states, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Kerala, Karnataka and Leh. Prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes.

Meanwhile, oil prices settled at a three-year high above $85 a barrel on Friday, boosted by forecasts of a supply deficit in the next few months as the easing of coronavirus-related travel restrictions spurs demand, according to Reuters. Brent crude futures settled up 86 cents, or 1 per cent, at $84.86 a barrel. Front-month prices, which touched their highest level since October 2018 at $85.10, hit a weekly rise of 3 per cent, its sixth straight weekly gain.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures rose 97 cents, or 1.2 per cent, to $82.28 a barrel. The was up 3.5 per cent on the week in an eighth consecutive weekly rise.
