Petrol, diesel price today: Regular dip in crude oil prices in the international market has led to yet another decrease in fuel prices in India. On Thursday, petrol and diesel prices were decreased by 15 paise and 10 paise respectively in the national capital. This brings per litre cost of petrol to Rs 77.28 and diesel to Rs 72.09 in New Delhi. Likewise in Mumbai, petrol and diesel prices were decreased by 14 paise and 11 paise respectively. A litre of petrol in Mumbai is being retailed at Rs 82.80 and diesel is being sold at Rs 75.53 a litre. In Noida, petrol was retailing at Rs 75.65 and diesel was priced at Rs 70.33. On Wednesday petrol and diesel price were unchanged after witnessing a regular decrease since the past 6 days. So far in November itself, petrol prices have been cut by Rs 2 per litre while diesel has become cheaper by Rs 1.60 across all the metro cities of the country. Fuel prices had been reduced in other metro cities of the country citing a big ease to commuters' pockets. The revised rates are mentioned below: Delhi Petrol - Rs 77.82/litre Diesel - Rs 72.09/litre Mumbai Petrol - Rs 82.80/litre Diesel - Rs 75.53/litre Kolkata Petrol - Rs 79.36/litre Diesel - Rs 74.05/litre Bengaluru Petrol - Rs 78.05/litre Diesel - Rs 72.58/litre Chennai Petrol - Rs 80.42/litre Diesel - Rs 76.30/litre Ahmedabad Petrol - Rs 74.58/litre Diesel - Rs 75.44/litre After global crude oil prices fell by 7 per cent on November 14 and the rupee appreciated to 72 against the US dollar, fuel prices were expected to dip down today. Prices haven't increased since a month now. Fuel prices were last increased on 16 October. Since then daily prices have either remained static or have decreased. Including today’s cut, fuel prices have come down by almost 15 per cent after witnessing a relentless hike in October burning a hole in the common commuter’s pocket. On October 4, petrol prices touched an all-time high of Rs 84 per litre in Delhi and Rs 91.34 in Mumbai while diesel was at Rs 75.45 in Delhi and Rs 80.10 in Mumbai. Between mid-August and early October, the petrol price was hiked by Rs 6.86 per litre and diesel by Rs 6.73. However, prices dipped soon after the government intervened and relaxed the excise duty on fuel which was followed by several state governments reducing the similar amount on its sales tax or VAT.
