Parliament Suspensions Rise To 146 With Ouster Of 3 More Lok Sabha MPs

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had earlier warned the three Congress MPs against protesting in the House.

New Delhi: Three more Congress MPs were suspended from the Lok Sabha on Thursday for the remainder of the Winter session for 'unruly behaviour', taking the total number of suspended members from the lower House to 100.

DK Suresh, Nakul Nath, and Deepak Baij were suspended from the house as they continued to demand a discussion on the issue of the Parliament security breach and a statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

"This House having taken serious note of misconduct of Deepak Baij, D K Suresh, Nakul Nath in utter disregard to the House and authority of the Chair through display of placards, entering into the Well of the House...may be suspended from the House for remaining session," Joshi said, reported PTI.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla earlier today warned the three Congress MPs against protesting in the House after over 145 lawmakers from the opposition parties have been suspended so far.

He had told the now-suspended MPs, "I have not suspended any MP without any reason. You are tearing and throwing papers in the House. MPs are coming to me and asking me to suspend them," reported PTI.

"I don't want to suspend anyone but you bring placards in the House...this is not right," he said.

As many as 143 MPs have been suspended from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha after they stalled the proceedings of the session following the incident of security breach in the Parliament on December 13. Two men had stormed into the Lok Sabha chamber and released smoke from canisters.

Earlier in the day, opposition parties took a march in protest against the suspensions of MPs from both the Houses.

The MPs from opposition parties have been demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the Parliament security breach incident. They have been disrupting the proceeding of the house in connection with the same after which as many as 143 MPs have been suspended till now.

49 Lok Sabha MPs were suspended from the House for disrupting proceedings on Tuesday, a day after 78 opposition members were suspended from Parliament.
