Sonia Gandhi To Chair Meeting Of Congress Parliamentary Panel On Tuesday Over Parliament Special Session

Sonia Gandhi has convened a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Strategy Group to discuss the strategy for the special session of Parliament.

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is set to chair a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Strategy Group on September 5 to discuss the strategy for the special session of Parliament, as reported by news agency ANI on Monday. The government has called for a "special session of Parliament" for five days from September 18 to 22.

On the special session of Parliament, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said, "Tomorrow we are convening a Parliamentary Strategy Group meeting and the Congress president is also convening the meeting of like-minded opposition parties. We will discuss our strategy for the parliament session," as quoted by news agency ANI.

The India National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) parties announced their resolution to jointly contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 during their Mumbai meeting. This move aims to present a united front and prioritise the issues of public concern. The announcement, made on Friday, September 1, comes as a "collaborative" signal of effort by the I.N.D.I.A. bloc.

More than 10 important bills are likely to be introduced during the "special session", sources told ABP News.

Speaking to ABP News, Congress leader and MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "We have not received any information on it so far. Parliament is being run on their (Centre) own will. What was the emergency for this session to be called when the Winter Session would have taken place?"

He added, "I don't know what the intentions of the government are. Maybe Prime Minister Narendra Modi has some intention to shift from the old building to the new. Maybe he wants to do some Puja there or do something shocking. We don't know but this seems strange."

I.N.D.I.A Bloc Planned Nationwide Public Rallies During Mumbai Meeting

I.N.D.I.A. parties have committed to organising public rallies across various regions. These rallies will serve as platforms for addressing the concerns and aspirations of the population and also showcasing a sense of unity by the opposition.

In an effort to streamline its messaging and outreach, the I.N.D.I.A. bloc in its Mumbai resolution has said to coordinate its communications and media strategies. Under the theme "Judega Bharat, Jeetega India, (India will unite, India will win)".

"...the INDIA parties, hereby resolve to coordinate our respective communications and media strategies and campaigns with the theme Judega Bharat, Jiteega India in different languages," the resolution of I.N.D.I.A. bloc mentioned.

The leaders of 27 opposition parties have been in a huddle in Mumbai for over two days to finalise plans to fight against the BJP-led NDA in the upcoming general elections. In their third meeting, the I.N.D.I.A. bloc has come out with a coordination committee to start working on the seat sharing by September end.
