'Have Been Given Faansi Ki Sazaa Even When...': Congress MP Rajani Patil After RS Suspension
Dhankhar said that Parliament is the ultimate authority for making rules, and no other external agencies will be involved in the investigation.
New Delhi: Rajani Patil, a Congress MP, was suspended by the Rajya Sabha on Friday for the remainder of the budget session of Parliament. She claimed that it was unfair to impose the harshest punishment on her because she had not committed any deliberate act, reported news agency ANI. "I did nothing like that but I have been given "faansi ki sazaa" even when I did nothing. I come from the family of freedom fighter, and my culture doesn't permit me to violate the law," said Rajni on her suspension from Rajya Sabha quoted by ANI.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar suspended Congress MP Rajani Patil for the remainder of the Budget Session for filming House proceedings, reported news agency ANI. The Congress member was suspended after tweeting a video from inside the House in which opposition lawmakers were seen protesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Thursday response to the Motion of Thanks.
"Accusing me like this and straightaway giving me the sternest punishment is not fair. I was deliberately named and I felt humiliated," she said.
"We stopped PM Modi's reply, again and again, yesterday which is why they are freaked out. This is their manufactured programme," she further said.
Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed a "serious view" regarding the issue and characterised it as an "unwholesome activity" on her side.
“In public domain yesterday, on Twitter, there was a dissemination of a video relating to proceedings of this House…Rajani Ashokrao Patil engaged in this unwholesome activity and what has been seen is a matter that must engage our attention,” Dhakhar said.

Earlier in the day, while PM Modi was speaking on the Motion of Thanks, Chairman Dhankhar asked leaders of all political parties to share their thoughts on a topic related to filming House proceedings. The motion to put Patil on leave was approved for the remainder of the Budget session.
