Parliament Security Breach: Phone Parts Of Accused Found In Burnt Condition In Rajasthan

Delhi police sources have told news agency ANI that the phone parts of all the accused have been recovered from Rajasthan, adding that all the parts were recovered in a burnt condition. The parts were recovered from accused Lalit Jha. This comes a day after another arrest was made in the case. 

On Saturday, the police arrested Mahesh Kumawat from Rajasthan's Nagaur. He was allegedly in touch with the other accused over the last two years and helped them destroy their mobile phones to erase all evidence.

Investigation into the case revealed that the accused hailed from varied backgrounds from across different states - Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Special Judge Hardeep Kaur sent 32-year-old Kumawat to the custody of the Delhi police after the public prosecutor informed the court that the accused "wanted to create anarchy in the country so that they can compel the government to meet their unjust and illegal demands".

The Delhi police also collected footage from inside and outside of Parliament on Saturday and are expected to also record the statement of BJP MP Pratap Simha who signed the entry passes of the accused.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha Speaker has formed a high-level panel to probe the matter. The panel would be headed by the CRPF director general, also investigating the incident.

Following Kumawat's arrest after questioning, sources said he was a part of the plan and was to be present at another gate on December 13 when he could not come for some reason.

The prosecutor told the court, "He (Kumwat) was in contact with other accused persons in hatching the conspiracy for the last two years. He helped the mastermind accused, Lalit Jha, in the destruction of a mobile phone to destroy evidence and to hide the larger conspiracy."

Kumawat was also a member of the now-deleted Bhagat Singh Fan Club page created by the accused  and is suspected to have helped mastermind Lalit Jha to stay in Nagaur where he fled after the Wednesday incident.

"Like the other accused, Kumawat talked about revolutionary ideas," a police officer told PTI adding that he motivated other youths to join their group.
