Find Out Demands Put up By Delhi Cabbies A Hindustan Times report quoted Delhi Sarvodaya Drivers Association president Kamaljeet Singh Gill who stated that around two lakh drivers working with cab aggregators Ola and Uber will take part in the strike if the government fails to solve our problems. Gill reportedly said that the condition of the cab drivers has deteriorated drastically after since the Coronavirus induced lockdown was implemented. Putting forward the driver's plight, Kamaljeet went on to say that the number of clients has come down to just 10 per cent as most of the people are working from home . He highlighted that most drivers attached to the union are those who have taken bank loans for purchasing the vehicle and have to pay monthly installments of up to Rs 15,000 at the time when drivers are struggling to make ends meet. This is why the association has decided to call a state-wide protest on September 1 to demand relaxation on paying EMIs till December 31 this year. The proposed strike expected to take place on Tuesday might affect the travel for thousands of citizens in Delhi as the government transport are accommodating fewer passengers due to the social distancing norms in wake of Coronavirus pandemic; and the Delhi metro are yet to resume.
