'Not Upset': AAP Says Sanjay Singh Suspended For 'Raising Voice For Truth'

AAP said that Sanjay Singh has been suspended from Rajya Sabha for speaking 'truth' and that its legal team will look into the matter.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reacted to the suspension of its Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and said that they are not upset as the leader was suspended for speaking the truth. AAP said that its legal team will look into the matter. Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said, "If Sanjay Singh is suspended for raising his voice for the truth, then we will not be upset. Our legal team will look into this matter, but this is unfortunate"

Meanwhile, opposition MPs are meeting with Rajya Sabha Chairman over the suspension of Sanjay Singh. Chairman Jagdee Dhankhar has called the leaders of the House for a meeting at 1 PM.

Talking to PTI, Bhardwaj said that the entire opposition stands with Sanjay Singh when he raises a slogan. "They (government) want to lock him in jail but are not able to find anything against him. This is an attempt to muzzle his voice but he won't stop," he added.

Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 PM minutes after they resumed proceedings at 12 noon as the opposition shouted 'Modi Sarkar Shame Shame', 'PM Modi Jawab Do', 'Manipur Wants Justice' slogans. Notably, the first two days of the monsoon session last week saw a similar ruckus leading to nearly zero functioning of Parliament.

Earlier in the day, AAP MP Raghav Chada said that the country demands that the government and PM Modi should speak on the issue of Manipur. "It is the responsibility of the Central govt to restore peace in the country. Today we are going to protest against this issue in the Parliament. Rajya Sabha Chairman should allow us to discuss on the Manipur issue," he added.

BSP Chief Mayawati tweeted that despite agreeing to discuss Manipur, it is sad and unfortunate that the time of the first two days of the current session of Parliament was wasted on the rule of law dispute. "Discussion and government statement on Manipur is necessary," she further said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said, "We also want the House to function and we want the PM to answer (on the Manipur situation). We don't want any ruckus to be created in the Parliament."
