Trains Delayed In Delhi Due To Dense Fog As Cold Wave Prevails In North India
Dense to very dense fog covered several parts of north India as cold wave continued in the region.
North India continued to shiver in cold wave on Monday as well along with thick blanket of fog as India Meteorological Department predicted cold day to severe cold day conditions to prevail over plains of Northwest India. The weather department said that dense to very dense fog conditions were also to stay till Monday after which it would gradually decrease.
A thick layer of fog could be seen over the skies of Delhi which also resulted in 22 trains running late to and from Delhi.

The chilling weather compelled people to seek refuge in night shelter homes in Delhi.

As per the weather department, minimum temperatures were between 6 to 9 degrees Celsius over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, and north Rajasthan where it was in the range of 10-12 degrees Celsius over parts of East Uttar Pradesh, rest parts of Rajasthan and northwest Madhya Pradesh.
In view of the incelement weather, physical classes for upto class 8th was suspended till January 13 in Chandigarh. "There will be no classes, in physical mode, upto Class 8 in any Government, Government-aided and Recognised Private Schools of Chandigarh till 13th January," stated an order by Director School Education, Chandigarh on Monday.
Winter vacation was extended in Delhi as well till January 12 for students of primary classes because of cold wave conditions, said Delhi Education Minister Atishi on Sunday.
Schools were earlier slated to resume on Monday after the winter break.
"Schools in Delhi will remain closed for the next 5 days due to the prevailing cold weather conditions, for students from Nursery to Class 5," Atishi said on 'X'.
