NIA Registers Case Against SFJ Ultra Jasvinder Singh Multani For 'Waging War Against India'

The officials said the case against Multani was registered under various sections of the IPC, including those related to waging war against the country.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a case against Jaswinder Singh Multani, an alleged operative of the banned separatist outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), for hatching a criminal conspiracy to wage war against the country and attempting to revive terrorism in Punjab, the officials on Friday said.

The officials said the case against Multani was registered under various sections of the IPC, including those related to waging war against the country.

The officials added the case against Multani was also registered under the relevant provisions of the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The case against Multani has been registered under sections 120B and 121A of the IPC and sections 10, 13, 17, 18 and 18B of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.

The case relates to a criminal conspiracy hatched by Multani, who was detained in Germany last week, with several other pro-Khalistani elements located abroad for radicalising, motivating and recruiting youngsters in Punjab on the ground and online through social media platforms to propagate their ideology with an aim to secede Punjab from the Union of India, the officials said, PTI reported.

The officials said that they have been involved in raising funds to procure arms, ammunition and explosives by using smuggling networks in Punjab to revive terrorism in the state.

The officials further said that Multani has also been in contact with the ISI operatives for carrying out terror attacks in fiscal capital Mumbai and other parts of India.

The officials added that registration of the case would help the Indian government take requisite action in accordance with law for expeditious investigation so that Multani could either be deported or extradited to the country.
