New Coronavirus Cases In India Above 40K Mark With 43,509 Fresh Infections As Kerala Tally Remains High

The daily COVID-29 positivity rate at 2.52 percent, remains below 5 percent. Active cases constitute 1.28 percent of total cases in India.

New Delhi: 43,509 new Coronavirus cases, 38,465 recoveries, and 634 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Thursday.

Active caseload currently is 4,03,840 while the recovery rate is at 97.38 percent.

Total samples tested up to 28th July are 46,26,29,773 including 17,28,795 samples tested yesterday.

Active cases constitute 1.28 percent of total cases while the weekly positivity rate remains below 5 percent, currently at 2.38 percent.

The daily positivity rate at 2.52 percent, remains below 5 percent. The testing capacity has been ramped up with 46.26 crore total tests conducted.

Coronavirus Cases In States

Maharashtra reported 6,857 new coronavirus infections and 286 fresh fatalities on Wednesday, taking the tally of cases to 62,82,914 and the death toll to 1,32,145, a state health department official said.

The state witnessed a rise in new COVID-19 cases and fatalities as compared to Tuesday, when it had reported 6,258 infections and 254 deaths.

With 6,105 patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day, the count of recoveries in Maharashtra went up to 60,64,856, leaving the state with 82,545 active cases, the official said.

Maharashtra's coronavirus recovery rate now stands at 96.53 percent, while the fatality rate is 2.01 percent.

The national capital on Wednesday reported 67 fresh COVID-19 cases and three deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Delhi Health Department.

With this, the total COVID-19 cases in Delhi mounted to 14,36,093 including 573 active cases.

The cumulative recoveries escalated to 14,10,471 including 61 fresh recoveries. The death toll in the capital touched 25,049 including the new death. The case fatality rate now stands at 1.74 percent.

On the other hand, there seems to be no reduction in the number of daily COVID cases in Kerala as on Wednesday, the figure crossed 20,000 for the second successive day.

22,056 people turned positive after 1,96,902 samples were sent for testing in the past 24 hours. On Tuesday, 22,129 people had tested positive.

The only solace on Wednesday was that the test positivity rate fell from 12.35 percent on Tuesday to 11.20 percent.

Presently, there were 1,49,534 active cases, after 17,761 more recovered, taking the total cured in the state to 31,60,804.

Another 131 COVID deaths were reported, taking the death toll to 16,457.
