New Chief Justices Appointed In Six High Courts, Including Delhi
Justice Sanghi from the Delhi High Court was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
New Delhi: The new Chief Justices were on Sunday appointed to six High Courts, including to the Delhi High Court. Five High Court judges were elevated as the Chief Justices, while Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, was transferred to the Delhi High Court in the same capacity. The Delhi High Court had been without a regular Chief Justice after Justice D N Patel retired, news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) reported. Justice Vipin Sanghi had been the acting Chief Justice since March 13.
“In exercise of the power conferred under Constitution of India, the Hon’ble President, after consultation with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint / transfer Chief Justices in the following High Courts,” the Department of Justice in the Union Law Ministry tweeted about these appointments.
Justice Sanghi from the Delhi High Court was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.

Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, currently a judge in the Telangana High Court, was elevated as the Chief Justice there.
Justice Amjad Ahtesham Sayed of the Bombay High Court was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
Justice Shinde Sambhaji Shiwaji of the Bombay High Court was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.
Justice Rashmin Manharbhai Chhaya from the Gujarat High Court was elevated as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
The Supreme Court collegium had recommended their names last month and they are likely to assume new charge in the coming days.
