Nearly 3,400 Communal Riots Cases Reported Between 2016 And 2020: Union Minister In Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Tuesday informed the Lok Sabha that about 3,400 communal riot cases were reported in the country between 2016 and 2020.

According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, 857 communal or religious riot cases were registered in 2020, 438 in 2019, 512 in 2018, 723 in 2017 and 869 in 2016.
In response to a written query, Nityanand Rai stated that 51,606 rioting instances were reported in 2020, 45,985 in 2019, 57,828 in 2018, 58,880 in 2017, and 61,974 in 2016.
1,205 Paramilitary Personnel Committed Suicide In 10 Years: Union Minister
According to Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, 1,205 paramilitary soldiers have committed suicide in the previous ten years, with the greatest number being 156 in 2021.
According to him, 143 service members will commit suicide in 2020, 129 in 2019, 96 in 2018, 125 in 2017, 92 in 2016, 108 in 2015, 125 in 2014, 113 in 2013, and 118 in 2012.
Domestic troubles, sickness, and financial problems are some of the variables that contribute to suicides, he stated in response to a written query.
Personnel from the CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG, and Assam Rifles have committed suicide.
