Unseasonal Rain Lashes Mumbai, Brings Down Temperatures. Netizens 'Welcome' Downpour

Mumbai Rains: The city experienced unexpected rain on Tuesday morning, following the city's highest temperature of the year so far on Monday, which was 39.4 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai woke up to a rainy morning as the city witnessed a significant downpour on Tuesday. Some nearby areas received heavy, but only for a short period of time. Neighbouring areas such as Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Vasai-Virar saw continuous spells of rain. The downpour was seen in Girgaon, Powai, Lalbaug, and Kurla in Mumbai.

It is unusual for Mumbai to witness rains in March. The spell was caused by a westerly wind and moisture intrusion from the Arabian Sea, according to the India Meteorological Department.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), some parts of Mumbai city and suburbs received up to 20-25 mm of rain between 7 am and 8 am. Central Mumbai areas such as Mandvi fire station, Memonwada fire station, Byculla fire station, and BMC headquarters saw 28 mm, 25 mm, 23 mm, and 19 mm of rain, respectively.

Between 6 and 7 am, eastern suburbs such as Mulund, Gavanpada, and Bhandup Complex received 20 mm and 19 mm of rain, respectively. Dahisar and Chincholi fire stations in the Western suburbs reported 18 mm and 14 mm of rain, respectively.

Here's How Netizens Reacted To Mumbai's June-Like Rain In March:
