Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was admitted to Medanta's intensive care unit on October 2 when his health deteriorated. According to sources, Yadav was having respiratory problems and was being treated at a hospital in Haryana by Internal Medicine expert Dr Sushila Kataria.
Yadav, 82, had been under treatment at the hospital since August 22.
According to hospital authorities, Singh also had a urinary infection. According to the sources, his treatment was being carried out at the same facility where his routine examination was also performed. Singh was brought to the hospital in July 2021 after he complained of stomach ache.

Mulayam Singh Yadav's Political Career
In 1967, Yadav was 28 years old when he was elected as an MLA for the first time. His political career lasted over five decades. He launched the SP in 1992 and developed his operations throughout North India. His emergence, interestingly, corresponds with the development of Hindutva in the late 1980s.
During his tenure as chief minister, he ordered police to fire on Kar Sewaks in 1990.
He came close to becoming the prime minister in 1996. Yadav's name was circulated as the senior leader to take control as the Union Front was poised to form the government. However, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav apparently blocked the move. Mulayam Singh Yadav told a gathering in Lucknow that it was Lalu who blew away the opportunity.
However, when Mulayam Singh Yadav's authority waned, his son emerged as the party's new face. The schism between his brother Shivpal Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav caused the regional leader to retire from routine political activity.
Mulayam had been the state's CM three times, from 1989 to 1991, 1993 to 1995, and 2003 to 2007. From 1996 to 1998, he was also the Union defence minister.
