Modi Govt Gave Over Rs 1 Lakh Cr To Bihar: Shah After Tejashwi Accuses Centre Of 'Step-Motherly' Treatment

Union Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the Modi government has given Bihar over one lakh crore after Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav accused Centre of 'step-motherly' treatment.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday responded to the ‘step-motherly treatment by Centre’ allegation of Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav. Shah said that under PM Narendra Modi’s government, over one lakh crore has been given to Bihar.

Addressing a rally in Bihar’s West Champaran, he said, "I want to ask Nitish Ji & Lalu Ji, during the UPA govt how much money was given to Bihar? Between 2009-2014, only Rs 50,000 crores were given to Bihar, but during the Modi govt from 2014-2019, over one lakh crores were given to the State."

Lashing out at the Bihar government over deaths due to illicit liquor, Shah said, "The sale of fake liquor must be stopped. PM Modi gave 3 projects worth Rs 15,000 crores to Bihar. When Lalu Yadav & Nitish Kumar were in the Union Ministry under the UPA government how much money did they give to Bihar? Modi Ji gave Rs 1,09,000 crore."

His response came after deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav accused the BJP-led Centre of step-motherly treatment towards the state. He said, as quoted by IANS, "Amit Shah is coming to Bihar. So, he should reveal to the people why the Central government cheated Bihar in the Union Budget. If the Central government has announced a lot of things for the state in the budget, then Shah should reveal it."

Shah slammed the Nitish Kumar-led state government over a range of issues. He said that Nitish agreed to make Tejashwi CM, "He should announce when he intends to do so and plunge state headlong into 'jungle raj"

The minister claimed that CM Nitish cannot stop demographic change. He asked people to elect PM Modi again in 2024 and promised that his party will put brakes on such attempts.

"The state is in a bad condition, there is no law and order. Journalists who speak against the government are being murdered. Nitish Kumar has always been silent, but Modi Ji banned the Popular Front of India to control the situation," Shah added, quoted ANI.

He further said, "The only way to get rid of the 'Jungle Raj' in Bihar is by making Narendra Modi the Prime Minister again by the 2/3rd majority. Every day we hear reports of rape and murder. I want people of Bihar to give Nitish Kumar and his government a lesson."

As per ANI, Amit Shah claimed that Nitish tied up with Sonia Gandhi's Congress, Lalu Prasad's RJD for his PM ambitions

"JD(U)-RJD 'unholy alliance' like oil and water," he added.

He asked people to close ‘doors’ for JD(U) permanently in the state by saying, "Enough of 'Aaya Ram, Gaya Ram', BJP's doors closed forever for Nitish."
