Bhadra: MLA Balwan Poonia from Bhadra constituency in Rajasthan has requested CM Ashok Gehlot to lift the ban on sale of liquor within the state. Taking cognizance of people who are addicted and the possibility of liquor mafia taking advantage of the lockdown, he has requested that the liquor stores be re-opened. Balwan Poonia met Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and discussed the issue with him. He followed it by sending him a letter. He wrote about increase in the sale of illegal liquor and how it is a major health risk for those who are consuming it. He has requested that following suitable rules, liquor stores are reopened amid the lockdown. Additionally, the MLA has also released a video where he says that his constituency Bhadra is adjacent to Haryana and ever since the lockdown was enforced, illegal liquor mafia has begun to flourish within Haryana. This mafia is also penetrating in Rajasthan and selling cheap alcohol within the state. When asked about his demands, he said that daily use items are being sold by undertaking appropriate measures to ensure social distancing. The same can be done for selling liquor. He further added that alcoholics have managed to buy illegal alcohol so far but that is putting their health to grave risk. By lifting the ban, the government can ensure that the risk is contained and the supply is legal.
