Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi's 'Vocal For Local' Pitch In Festive Season, Launch Of 'MY Bharat' Portal On Oct 31

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 106th Mann Ki Baat address, said that people should buy local products to support Indian artists, weavers and others during the festive season.

Mann Ki Baat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the nation through the 106th edition of his monthly radio programme 'Man Ki Baat'. The Prime Minister greeted the nation for the festive season. He asked the citizens to buy local products whenever they travel to any place in the country. The PM urged citizens to go for local products during the festive season to support local artisans. He asked people to continue investing in 'Make In India' products even after the festival season.

PM Modi also announced that on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a "very big" nationwide platform will be launched. He said that a platform, 'MY Bharat: Mera Yuva Bharat will be unveiled as an opportunity for Indian youths to flourish. He said, Mybharat website will be beginning soon and asked the youth to log in to MyBarat.gov.in and register for opportunities available there.

"On October 31, the foundation of a very big nationwide platform 'Mera Yuva Bharat' is being laid, that too on the birth anniversary of Sardar Sahab ( Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel). October 31 is also the birth anniversary of former PM Indira Gandhi. I also pay my heartfelt tribute to her," the PM said.

"Youths can play active role in different nation-building projects through 'Mera Yuva Bharat'," he added.

PM Modi also said the Khadi sales saw a massive jump with a sale of over Rs 1.5 crore on Gandhi Jayanti. "Earlier this month, Khadi witnessed record sales in Delhi...This month's ongoing Khadi Mahotsav has once again broken all records. On Gandhi Jayanti, Khadi witnessed record sales," the PM said. 

He also said that thousands of Amrit Kalash Yatras are now reaching Delhi and the soil from different places will be put in an enormous Bharat Kalash and with this sacred soil, "‘Amrit Vatika’ will be built in Delhi"

The PM wished the Asian Games winners for bagging a record number of medals in the athletic event in China and also applauded the Para Asian Games winners.

"In this festive season, sports activities are scaling new heights in the country. After Asian Games, India has created history by winning 111 medals in Para Asian Games," he said. The PM asked the people to meet the winners and witness the sheer strength with which they play for the country.

Talking about Tribal Pride Day, to be observed on Nov 15, he said, "The entire country will celebrate Tribal Pride Day on 15th November. This special day is associated with the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. Lord Birsa Munda resides in the hearts of all of us. We can learn from his life what true courage is and what it means to stand firm on one's determination."
