Bhutan King Attends Manmohan Singh's Funeral As World Leaders Mourn Statesman's Death
Global leaders, including US President Biden, expressed condolences for Manmohan Singh's legacy and contributions.
King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Mauritius Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ramful paid tributes to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his State funeral at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi on Saturday.
The Bhutanese monarch and Mauritian minister laid a wreath on the mortal remains of Singh and paid their last respects to the departed soul during his funeral.
Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday at the age of 92 after undergoing treatment for age-related ailments. He was rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where he was pronounced dead.
Honouring Singh's legacy, Prime Minister's Office Of Mauritius informed the public that the Mauritian flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings until sunset on Saturday. The Prime Minister's Office urged private sectors to also flow the flags at half-mast.

High Commission of Singapore also flew the Singaporean flag at half-mast "as a show of deep respect" to the former PM, said Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong.
Earlier in the day, US President Joe Biden remembered Singh noting the "unprecedented level of cooperation between the United States and India today would not have been possible without the Prime Minister’s strategic vision and political courage."
Biden called Singh a "true statesman", "a dedicated public servant", "and above all, he was a kind and humble person."
Earlier, leaders from across the world including the US, Canada, France, Russia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, China, and Malaysia expressed grief over Singh's death.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Ambassador of the US to India Eric Garcetti, Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake paid their tributes to the former PM.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, former Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, and Malaysian Prime Anwar Ibrahim also remembered Singh on his demise.
