Manipur Violence: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday stated that he will visit violence-hit Manipur to resolve the ongoing dispute. Speaking on Manipur violence, Shah stated: "There were clashes in Manipur after verdict of a court. I would appeal to both groups they should maintain peace, justice will be done with everyone. I will myself go to Manipur after few days and will stay there for three days & will talk to people of Manipur for establishing peace."

Shah, while inaugurating the establishment of the 10th National Forensic Sciences University campus in Changsari of Kamrup district, announced his willingness to visit the northeastern state and assist with conflict resolution.

Shah stated that the government will make sure that those affected in the state's clashes receive fair treatment, however, he added that it is crucial for individuals to engage in conversations in order to establish tranquility within the region.

The home minister remarked that the establishment of the NFSU campus in this area will ensure that all students who take these courses have access to employment opportunities. "I will go to Manipur soon and stay there for three days but before that, both groups should remove mistrust and suspicion among themselves and ensure that peace is restored in the state," he was quoted by PTI in its report. 

A new web portal named 'Seva Setu' has been launched by Amit Shah for Assam police to facilitate the filing of complaints by the public. Additionally, Shah also laid the foundation stone for the National Forensic Sciences University's campus in Guwahati, PTI reported.

Manipur Violence

According to officials on Thursday, there was an outbreak of ethnic violence in Manipur which resulted in the death of one individual and multiple houses were engulfed in flames.

Manipur has experienced significant unrest and displacement, with at least 70 casualties resulting from an outbreak of inter-ethnic violence earlier this month.

Around 2,000 residences were destroyed in the state situated adjacent to Myanmar due to fire.

The outbreak of violence occurred due to the Kuki tribe's resentment towards the probable allocation of reserved quotas for government jobs and additional benefits to the Meitei community under affirmative action.

This fueled concerns that the Meitei could also be granted permission to possess lands that are presently designated for the Kuki and other native communities, intensifying longstanding apprehensions among the Kuki people.

For the past few weeks, the state has seen the deployment of numerous military personnel, accompanied by curfews and the discontinuation of internet services.

On Wednesday, a curfew with no specific end time was implemented again in the Bishnupur district due to suspected militants shooting and killing one individual in a conflict zone.
