Maneka Gandhi Ends Silence Over Removal From BJP's National Executive Committee, Says 'Have Been On It For...'

BJP had announced its National Executive Committee on October 7. Many leaders, including Maneka Gandhi and her son, were left out of the National Executive Committee.

New Delhi: Maneka Gandhi reacted to her removal from the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) national executive committee. The MP from Sultanpur said that it was not a big deal and not being on the national executive committee hardly makes a difference.

"The National Executive Committee changes every year. It is the party's decision to change the committee," she said. "I have been on the national executive committee for 25 years, what is the big deal if it is changed," Maneka Gandhi questioned.

She made it clear that new people should be given a chance in the national executive committee and her ouster is not a matter of concern.

BJP President JP Nadda had announced the party's National Executive Committee on October 7. Several leaders including Maneka Gandhi and her son Varun Gandhi were removed from it. 

Jyotiraditya Scindia, who left the Congress and joined the BJP, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri have been appointed as the new members of the National Executive Committee.

Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Nirmala Sitharaman continue to be a part of the National Executive Committee.

Union Ministers Rao Inderjit Singh, Prahlad Patel, Subramanian Swamy, Suresh Prabhu, Vasundhara Raje, Dushyant Singh, Vijay Goel, Vinay Katiyar, and SS Ahluwalia also did not get a place in the new National Executive Committee.
