Maharashtra Records New High Of 123 Covid-19 Deaths In One Day; Delhi's Registers 22 Fatalities
With this surge, India now stands at seventh position among the nations worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic after the US, Brazil, Russia, the UK, Spain and Italy.
Maharashtra still leads with the highest concentration of coronavirus cases, recording as many as 77,793 numbers. Of these, more than 33,681 people have recovered while nearly, 2710 patients succumbed to the deadly disease.
On Thursday itself, the state recorded 2,933 new positive cases and a new high of 123 Covid-19 deaths, including 68 deaths in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region alone - the worst-hit in the country. Going by the latest data from officials, nearly 1352 people cured and were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours, taking the number of those discharged to 33,681 now
As per the reports, the state has recorded an encouraging recovery rate of 43.29 percent and a mortality rate 3.48 percent. Officials have claimed that the state has conducted more than half-million - 510,176 tests.
Meanwhile Delhi government reported that national capital registered as many as 1359 new positive cases, pushing total number of cases to 25004. Of these, there are at least 14456 active cases present in the state.
The official reported that 22 people lost lives in past 24 hours, making death toll stand at 650. Moreover, 356 patients recovered from the deadly coronavirus disease on Thursday. With this, the total number of patients who have recovered in the state appears to be 9,898.
On the whole, India recorded a jump in the total coronavirus cases with a spike of 9,304 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, pushing the nationwide tally to 2,16,919. With this surge, India now stands at seventh position among the nations worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic after the US, Brazil, Russia, the UK, Spain and Italy.
The health ministry official on Thursday said that the number of active COVID-19 cases in the country stood at 1,06,737 till 8 am today while the death toll due to the disease climbed to 6,075 with 260 new fatalities.
